IPD Education offers Integrated
Project Delivery coursework in two primary tracks: for IPD Owners &
IPD
Designs/Builders. The instructors for IPD Education are uniquely
experienced and qualified to teach this advanced course content. Each
bringing years of practice, failure, success, and lessons-learned into the
classroom. Collectively our instructors are designers, builders, managers,
leaders, strategists, administrators, facilitators, and practitioners of
Integrated Project Delivery. In addition to our Custom Programs, IPD
Education currently offers 6 Modules of education.

What to do before you

IPD Pre-Planning► This 1/2 day session examines
the IPD Acquisition process relative to the Owner's 'Project Management'
versus 'Contract/Legal' in terms of organizational policies, mandates, and
statute constraints. Issues such as FAR and State Contracting limits and
opportunities are modeled and discussed. Fundamental issues covered include:
► FAR/State Contracting relative to IPD
► Coordination of 'contracting' vs. 'project
management' issues and requirements
► "the Owner's" mandatory skill sets
► The 4 key's to successful IPD delivery (the
Owner's Perspective)

Why
"3PQMS" Works

Back |
Concept & Structure►This
module demonstrates and discusses Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) by
focusing on the contrast between traditional "input-based" delivery
strategies versus The 3PQ©
"outcome-based" delivery strategy. Details of why The 3PQ©
Management System can assure targeted results is discussed. Attendees of
this course will be able to understand the application of:
► The "3PQMatrix" strategy & Management System
► The "7 Universal" project
expectations
► 3PQ© "Master Delivery"
scheduling
► "Integrated Project Team"
(IPT) members required skill sets
► The "IPD Triangle", components
of integration

Contract Structures & Risk
Controls► This
module covers the contractual relationship of the IPT (specifically the
Owner, Designer, and Builder), and how all members are empowered by 3PQ©.
Specific roles, responsibilities, and 'decision-making' controls are
demonstrated in detail. Hands-on "Risk Analysis" exercise demonstrates how
the structure of 3PQ©
Project Delivery is leveraged during RFQ/P Development, Evaluation &
Selection, and Contract Execution. Fundamental concepts include:
► 3PQ©
Contract Essentials & Project Risk Controls
► "Outcome Based" Incentives
► "Risk Analysis" Tools &
Techniques
► Leveraging "Risk Analysis"
through Evaluation/Selection
► Integrating "Lean
Construction"

Program & Performance
Structure► This
module details the 'metric' components of 3PQ©,
including program and performance criteria. Techniques and guides of
preliminary & final program, and performance criteria are demonstrated.
Interactive demonstration of "out-come" prioritization is also covered.
Fundamental concepts (leading to project success) include:
► Using CSI Uniformat
Performance Criteria
► Integrating LEED© and
sustainable design
► Program Metrics Documentation
► Handling Budget & Schedule
Constraints
► "Outcome Based" Prioritization
& Flexibility
► Maintaining the Owners Control

Project Administration,
Quality Auditing, and Substantiation►
This module details the administrative tools and techniques for operating a
successful 3PQ©
QA and Substantiation Program. Demonstration of templates and protocols
include:
► Facilitation of the IPT
(tools & techniques)
► Milestone Tracking & Reporting
► Substantiating Design &
Construction
► Substantiation Tracking & Logs
► Commissioning & Operational
Start-up
► Warrantees & Betterments
► General Administration

3PQ Management Workshop
1 - 4
Back |
Module 1 through 4 Workshop►
This interactive workshop combines instruction of the 3PQ Management System
and the attending Owner's own project. Exercises conducted throughout the 4
Modules will use an actual project supplied by the owner; strengthening the
Owner's understanding while completing critical tasks of the Project
Definition, Procurement Model Development, and RFQ/P
Documentation Phases of the
3PQ
Matrix.
As some
necessary coordination of the Owner's Project Information must take place to
adapt the workshop; special arrangements need to take place. These can be
arranged via phone and e-mail. This special workshop can be conducted in our
conference facilities in Olathe, Kansas or at the Owner's facilities.

budget, scope, and schedule demands of the owner. Included:
► Risk Profiles of Owner / Designer /
Builder
► Historic perspective of design
► Traditional vs. Integrated design processes
► How design management differs from
construction management
► Integrating designers and builders

"The Key to Design-Build Success"
► Taken from "Managing the Design
Process" (Module 5), this module is for builders- specifically
Estimators & Project Managers. This 1/2 Day class demonstrates the key links
between design decision-making and cost control, and details the steps
necessary to build a 'conceptual estimate' in the context of design-build
delivery. Included:
► Risk Profiles of Owner / Designer /
Builder
► Integrating designers and builders
► Budget satisfaction via design portioning
► The design decision-making process |
